The research investigates implementing a religious approach to enhancing students' understanding of Islamic principles and fostering religious character development. This research employs a qualitative methodology focusing on implementing a religious approach to gather data from various sources. The findings showed that students demonstrated a deeper understanding of Islamic concepts and their practical application. Students engaged more in Islamic practices like prayer, fasting, and charity. Students displayed better behaviour, including politeness, respect, and helpfulness. Students' academic performance improved, reflecting the positive impact of religious education. The program fostered acceptance of differences and tolerance towards others. Students developed the ability to analyze and critically examine Islamic teachings. The study acknowledges a potential limitation in memorization: the need to comprehend the meaning. Some students might memorize verses without fully understanding their meaning. However, the benefits of repetition and the potential for future understanding are highlighted. The study suggests that the religious approach to character education at SMPIT Samawa Cendikia successfully shapes students' knowledge, character, and social attitudes.
